The Berg Balance Scale assesses the functional balance one uses in daily life. Its target population includes geriatrics, those recovery from stroke, amputation, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis and other neurological impairments. A score of <45 is a higher risk of falls and <40 is close to a 100% risk of falls. Mobility aids can also be recommended based on the scores where 0-20 suggests a wheelchair, 21-40 means 1 person assisting with ambulation, and 41-56 suggests independent mobility. MCID ~ 5 points.
